LEO BARRIOS
Leo Barrios is dedicated to timeless and sophisticated design where function inspires form.
Originally from Texas, his passion for design and woodworking was nurtured by his Mexican father and grandfather’s home workshops where toys and everyday objects came to life. His encounter with Italian, French, Japanese, and Brazilian design cultures and traditions led him to furniture-making. He trained and worked with San Antonio-based artist and master craftsman Peter Zubiate and founded his own studio in 2017.
His work is rooted in a love for the beauty of simplicity and of contemporary forms. In his furniture, the details of traditional woodworking techniques showcase the texture and richness of local and domestic hardwoods and materials such as steel and brass. Clean lines, attention to detail, and the seamless blend of textures are at the heart of his craft. Each piece is one of a kind, considered with each client in mind, and produced with an eye to sustainability.
Located in the Southtown neighborhood of San Antonio, Tx, he has worked with residential and commercial clients such as ChildSafe, Bakery Lorraine, Merit Coffee, Lake Flato Architects and collaborated with artists on multidisciplinary projects.
